SEOUL, November 11, 2025 — Hyundai Motor Company’s all-new NEXO, a standout in its expanding electrified vehicle lineup, is poised to set a new standard for zero-emission transportation. This week, Hyundai Motor welcomed global media to Korea, offering an opportunity to experience the fuel cell electric vehicle’s (FCEV) exceptional range, power and refinement ahead of its launch in early 2026.
Enhanced Powertrain Delivers Impressive Performance
The all-new NEXO features significant advancements in its powertrain, with enhancements focused on the fuel cell (FC) and power electronics (PE) systems to deliver greater power output and improved performance.
Complementing these upgrades is a newly developed motor system, which boosts the PE system’s power output and doubles the battery capacity from 40 kW to 80 kW. As a result, total system output has increased from 135 kW to 190 kW. This enhanced powertrain enables a faster 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds,1 compared to 9.2 seconds in the previous model, delivering exceptional acceleration and smooth overtaking capability.
The hydrogen fuel cell stack has been enhanced to deliver a maximum gross output of 110 kW (up 16 % from 95 kW) and a net system output of 94 kW (up 11% from 85 kW)2, while the new electric motor produces up to 150 kW. Additional refinements to the fuel cell stack include improved low-temperature operability, a more durable membrane structure, and enhanced cell uniformity. The newly introduced ‘Wake Up’ anti-freezing function and other optimizations ensure reliable cold-weather performance and year-round driving confidence.
With a maximum range of 826 km3 (WLTP) from a quick five-minute hydrogen charge4, the all-new NEXO offers exceptional efficiency and usability. The hydrogen system now features increased storage capacity without sacrificing cabin space, with tank capacity rising to 6.69 kg from 6.33 kg in the previous generation. Enhanced hydrogen storage density and improved fuel efficiency further secure the NEXO’s competitive edge in all-electric range (AER).

Advanced Technologies Enhance Driving Dynamics and Efficiency
The all-new NEXO boasts aerodynamic enhancements, including underbody optimizations and improved airflow management, to reduce drag and maximize efficiency. Its advanced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance is further elevated by features like Active Noise Control-Road (ANC-R) noise-canceling technology and sound-absorbing tires, ensuring a quieter and more refined ride, particularly during acceleration and on uneven road surfaces.
Driving performance is further optimized through the innovative e-Handling system, which uses motor torque control to enhance grip, stability and steering response. By dynamically adjusting motor output to road conditions, the system delivers precision handling and improved overall performance.
NEXO also includes a Smart Regenerative System (SRS) to elevate driving convenience. This intelligent system automatically adjusts regenerative braking based on navigation data and the proximity of vehicles ahead while utilizing map information5 to account for road features such as speed cameras and speed bumps. This reduces driver intervention by managing deceleration during coasting, all while offering customizable distance settings based on driver preferences.
In addition, European-specification models of the all-new NEXO introduce an exciting new capability: towing. With a towing capacity of up to 1,000 kg, NEXO becomes the first FCEV to offer this level of functionality, further expanding its versatility and appeal.6.
Innovative Features Make Hydrogen Driving Intuitive and Convenient
The all-new NEXO is equipped with consumer-focused innovations designed to enhance convenience and simplify the FCEV driving experience. Its column-type shift lever frees up interior space, enabling greater design flexibility and increased storage capacity in the center console.
The Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) combines two 12.3-inch curved displays for seamless driver information and infotainment controls. Supporting over-the-air updates and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the system also features generative AI-powered voice recognition and an Audio by Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with up to 14 speakers for an engaging experience.

A head-up display (HUD) projects critical driving information, including speed, autonomous driving data, and safety alerts, directly onto the windshield, reducing distractions. Wireless charging in the center console supports high-speed smartphone charging, NFC-enabled Digital Key 2 functionality for keyless entry and start, and USB fast charging with 15W output.
Like Hyundai Motor’s battery electric vehicles, NEXO incorporates a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, allowing users to power electronic devices both inside and outside the vehicle via its high-voltage battery. The exterior V2L capability offers direct plug-in functionality without the need for additional adapters, ensuring versatile power options.
For enhanced visibility, NEXO features a digital center mirror (DCM) and digital side mirror (DSM)7 systems, replacing traditional optical mirrors in select markets. These systems provide a wider field of view, better blind spot detection, and improved visibility in low-light or adverse weather conditions. The DCM includes a cleaning system to maintain rear camera clarity, while the DSM integrates with the blind view monitor (BVM) for improved lane-change visibility.
Dash Cam8 offers high-quality front and rear video recording with voice capture and parking motion detection for up to four days. In-vehicle fingerprint authentication9 simplifies operations by enabling biometric engine start, electronic payments and profile personalization.
The Digital Key 2 system allows users to unlock and start the vehicle via wireless smartphone communication and supports up to 15 devices, including wearable technology like Apple Watches. It also offers remote control functions and personalized profiles through an NFC Card Key.
The Rear Occupant Alert System enhances safety by using radar sensors to detect movement in the rear seats and issuing audible and visual alerts to prevent occupants, such as children, from being left inside the vehicle. Together, these advanced features make NEXO a user-centric, cutting-edge addition to Hyundai Motor’s electrified vehicle lineup.

Built with hot stamping and high-strength materials, NEXO is engineered for enhanced body rigidity and exceptional passive safety. Designed to deliver superior collision performance across all body areas, it absorbs and disperses crash energy to minimize deformation of the passenger compartment.
Additionally, the use of third-generation ultra-high-strength steel improves formability compared to earlier generations. Structural enhancements include reinforced front-end components, a multi-piece hot-stamped lower side area, an optimized frontal crash load path, and a multi-load path structure to better manage side impacts, further elevating NEXO’s safety credentials.

NEXO’s exterior exudes strength and sophistication, featuring bold lines and a solid structure that convey a rugged, yet refined image. The arch-shaped cross-section reinforces its durability, while horizontal groove patterns on the doors emphasize its robust character. Distinctive ‘HTWO’ Lamps define NEXO’s exterior, serving as an FCEV-specific design element that merges boldness with elegance. These lamps embody Hyundai Motor Group’s HTWO hydrogen brand and its ‘Hydrogen for Humanity’ ethos, while the 4 Dot Lamps11 ensure unmistakable recognition as a Hyundai vehicle at night.
The all-new NEXO will be available in six striking colors: Creamy White Pearl, Phantom Black Pearl, Amazon Gray Metallic, Ocean Indigo Matte, Ecotronic Gray Pearl, and Goyo Copper Pearl — the last of which captures the spirit of ‘Koreanism’ through its deep, tranquil tone.
To enhance its visual impact, NEXO features a three-coat paint process, creating a multidimensional finish that shifts with light and environmental angles, giving the vehicle a uniquely dynamic presence.
Spacious Interior Delivers Enhanced Comfort and Practicality
The all-new NEXO’s interior provides a spacious, comfortable and convenient environment for passengers. Featuring rich, soft padding with patterns that evoke the warmth of a home, the cabin combines practicality with a modern, high-tech aesthetic. A curved, driver-centric display, intuitive controls and an island-type center console with ample storage define the interior design. Digital side mirror displays12 are integrated into the dashboard, enhancing openness and functionality while contributing to the ‘Furnished Space’ concept for a sophisticated and engaging experience.
Larger dimensions make NEXO longer, wider and taller than its predecessor, resulting in improved passenger comfort and increased cargo capacity. With a maximum rear storage volume of 993 liters13, the SUV provides enough space to accommodate up to four golf bags. Additionally, a new platform in the luggage area14 gives users the flexibility to customize the space with accessories tailored to their needs, enhancing practicality for a variety of lifestyles.

Comfort is further enhanced with first-row Premium Relaxation Seats15, which include leg rests and slim backs that improve knee clearance and legroom for second-row passengers. Additional improvements, such as expanded headroom and shoulder room, contribute to a more comfortable interior experience. The rear doors open wider16 than the previous-generation car, making entry and exit easier.
Smart storage solutions throughout the cabin, including in the center console, dashboard and door trims, add to the vehicle’s practicality. Ambient mood lighting linked to speed limit alerts enhances the premium feel of the interior, while the vision roof creates an increased sense of space.
Sustainability is a core focus of the all-new NEXO, with eco-friendly materials17 used extensively throughout the cabin. These include bio-process leather, bio PU leather, recycled PET fabric, linen fabric, bio plastics, bio TPO skin, bio paint, bio PU slab foam and recycled automotive plastic waste, further underscoring Hyundai Motor’s commitment to environmentally conscious design.
