02 Interior, Comfort & Space
The all-new Hyundai IONIQ 9 transforms the concept of a vehicle interior into a home away from home. Offering exceptional headroom and legroom even in the third row, the spacious, ‘lounge-like’ interior provides a responsive space tailored to the diverse needs of each passenger, creating a unique in-car experience truly 'Built to Belong'.
Maximising the potential of the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) enables a fully flat floor and together with a wheelbase of 3.13 metres – the longest in any IONIQ model to date – it elevates the all-new IONIQ 9’s roominess across all three rows to a new level. Flexible seating configurations allow customers to choose between six or seven-seat layouts, adapting the space for maximum passenger comfort or enhanced cargo capacity.
Passengers can enjoy Hyundai’s Relaxation Seats2 in the first and second rows, which fully recline and include integrated leg rests, creating a comfortable environment for resting and recharging. In select markets, swivelling seats3 in the second row allow passengers to rotate and face the third row when parked, transforming the cabin into a social and interactive space – ideal for family outings or relaxed waiting periods.
The sliding Universal Island 2.0 console further enhances interior functionality with a walk-through front-row design. The entire console can slide up to 190 mm, offering flexible storage options – including 5.6 liters in the upper tray and 12.6 liters in the lower sliding compartment. Bidirectional armrests open from both the front and rear, providing easy access to essential items from the second row.
Beyond seating flexibility, IONIQ 9 offers generous cargo capacity with up to 908 litres of luggage space when the third row is folded and 338 litres4 with all seats in place. With all rear seats folded flat, cargo volume increases to 2,494 litres for the six-seater version and 2,419 litres for the seven-seater. The front trunk (frunk) provides additional storage, with 88 litres available in RWD models – perfect for charging cables and small travel essentials – and 52 litres in AWD models, offering extra storage for daily use.

03 Exterior & Aerodynamics
The all-new Hyundai IONIQ 9 embodies a bold evolution of Hyundai’s design DNA, seamlessly blending aerodynamic efficiency with a strong, sculpted presence. One of its most immediate and striking impressions is its sleek 'aerosthetic' exterior, which highlights Hyundai’s commitment to harmonising futuristic aesthetics and superior aerodynamic design.
IONIQ 9’s commanding stance is further defined by its elegant side silhouette, accentuated by a distinctive diagonal crease near the rear fender. Inspired by the refined structure of a traditional Korean hanbok’s collar and lapel, this design element – internally referred to as the "Hanbok Line" by the design team – blends seamlessly with the beltline above the rear bumper. It enhances the vehicle’s dynamic character while reinforcing IONIQ 9’s identity as a cutting-edge electric SUV.
Built on Hyundai’s advanced E-GMP architecture, IONIQ 9 combines its long 3.13-metre wheelbase with an aerodynamic body, ensuring a spacious and flexible cabin while optimising ride comfort and handling stability. Its aerodynamically sculpted bodywork achieves an ultra-low drag coefficient of just 0.259 Cd, significantly improving efficiency and range.
This is made possible through a combination of innovative air management systems and intelligent design solutions. The short hood, together with the fast windscreen, creates the longest interior diagonal in its segment, maximizing interior space while enhancing aerodynamic efficiency. The dual-motion active air flap (AAF) system, used for the first time on a Hyundai model, dynamically adjusts airflow to provide cooling when needed while minimising resistance when closed. The turbine-inspired wheel design, featuring a partially closed rim structure, contributes to aerodynamic performance while adding a dynamic visual statement.
A 3D-shaped underbody cover, aerodynamic wheel designs, and hidden antennas further refine airflow, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted movement. These elements work together to reduce energy consumption, allowing IONIQ 9 to maximise its 620 km5 WLTP range.
Hyundai’s Parametric Pixel lighting signature, a defining characteristic of the all-new IONIQ lineup, seamlessly integrates into IONIQ 9’s front and rear lighting design. The futuristic pixel-inspired LED headlights and rear lights not only enhance visibility but also reinforce the vehicle’s distinctive, high-tech appearance. To maintain a composed and comfortable ride, IONIQ 9 features self-levelling dampers, which automatically adjust to changes in load, preserving ride height, stability, and passenger comfort. This system works in tandem with dynamic torque vectoring, a technology that distributes power between the left and right wheels of the vehicle to improve handling. By shifting power to the outside wheels during cornering, it enhances cornering precision and agility, giving IONIQ 9 a sportier and responsive feel on winding roads.
For added confidence on challenging surfaces, IONIQ 9 offers a dedicated Terrain Mode with pre-set driving profiles for snow, mud, and sand.10
Hyundai has also prioritised a quiet and relaxing cabin environment with Active Noise Cancelling-Road (ANC-R) technology. As a first-ever feature in a Hyundai, ANC-R is integrated into the Bose 14-speaker premium sound system and actively counteracts road and wind noise. By continuously analysing external noise, the system generates inverse sound waves through the speakers to neutralise unwanted sounds. This ensures a tranquil and undisturbed cabin atmosphere, allowing passengers to enjoy crystal-clear audio quality, whether listening to music, engaging in conversations, or simply appreciating the composed ride – even at high speeds.
IONIQ 9’s Smart Regenerative System 3.0 takes energy efficiency a step further by automatically adjusting recuperation levels based on real-time navigation data.
